- 這次的任務舉個例子：Mr Chan 請同學寫五句關於朋友的句子：Write five sentences about a friend.。任務簡單，要求卻不少：每句都要大楷開頭、句號收尾，五句連起來就是一篇小小的朋友介紹，動筆之前先把規則記在心上。動筆前先選定要寫的朋友，想好對方兩三個特點；資料齊備，五句就能一氣呵成。
- 第一句：主題句舉個例子：My best friend is Amy.（我最好的朋友是 Amy）。第一句先講清楚寫的是誰，讀者一眼就知道主題。這一句叫做 topic sentence（主題句），是五句之中最重要的一句，後面四句都圍繞著它發揮。主題句用 My best friend is... 都可以；名字後也可以補一句外觀，例如 Amy is tall.
- 第二三句：基本資料舉個例子：She is eight years old.（她八歲）以及 We go to school together every day.（我們每天一起上學）。這兩句交代年齡和共同經歷，屬於基本資料；every day 這類頻率詞能令句子更具體，不再是空泛的形容。is eight years old 留意 years 用複數；一起做的事用 We 開頭，突出共同經歷。
- 第四五句：性格和愛好舉個例子：She likes to read and draw.（她喜歡閱讀和畫畫）She is kind to everyone.（她對每個人都很好）She always helps me.（她常常幫我）。always 這類頻率詞要放在動詞前面，位置一旦放錯，句子讀起來就會奇怪。性格詞可用 kind、helpful、friendly；愛好句用 likes to 加動詞。
- 加感受收尾舉個例子：I am happy to have a good friend.（有一個好朋友我很開心）。最後一句寫自己的心情，讓文章有溫度地結束；先寫事實，再寫感受，是常用的收結方法，這個句式幾乎可以套用到任何題目。感受句常用 I am happy or glad to... 的句式；也可以寫 We always have fun together.，用事實帶出感受。
- 格式檢查舉個例子：交功課前逐句檢查：每句大楷開頭、句號收尾，再 check spelling and grammar（檢查拼字和文法）。檢查時把句子朗讀一次，耳朵能找出眼睛漏掉的錯誤；養成這個習慣，作業的準確度會明顯提高。檢查時逐句問三個問題：大楷對嗎？句號齊嗎？拼字對嗎？三問都通過才看下一句；慢而準，好過快而多錯。
- 句式練習舉個例子：用同一套計劃寫自己的朋友：先說是誰，再寫年齡，然後是一起做的事，接著寫對方是怎樣的人，最後寫自己的感受。五個步驟照著走，一篇朋友介紹就完成了，寫完之後再與範文逐句對照一次，檢查有沒有漏掉的重點。寫不同的人時只需替換資料部分，句式計劃完全通用；每寫完一篇就讀給同學聽，聽聽意見再修改，文章會更完整。
