§課文原文 Passage
1I go to the supermarket with my mother. We need to buy food. We get a trolley. First, we go to the vegetable section. We buy tomatoes and carrots. Then, we go to the meat section. We buy chicken. Finally, we go to the drinks section. We buy milk. We pay at the counter.
2There are many signs in the supermarket. One sign says, 'No smoking.' Another says, 'Please keep the trolley to the right.' I read the title of each sign first. Then I find the keywords. The keywords help me understand the signs.
3Some signs have a picture too. A picture helps me understand fast. Then I answer my mother's questions about the signs. I can answer them all. My mother says I am a good reader. I am happy!

- 場景設定舉個例子：我和媽媽到 supermarket（超級市場）買東西，入口處先取一架 trolley（手推車）。場景一開始就點明地點與人物，讀記敘文時先抓住這兩個要素，後面的內容就容易理解。supermarket 由 super 加 market 組成，拆開記更容易。閱讀時把地點和人物圈起來，作為理解全篇的錨點；之後每一件事都可以問一句：在哪裡發生？誰在做？
- 第一段：買東西路線舉個例子：先到 vegetable section（蔬菜區）買 tomatoes 和 carrots，再到 meat section（肉類區）。購物按區域進行，有明確的次序；記敘文用 first, then 交代先後，閱讀時可以自己把這些順序字標出來。first、then、next、finally 是記敘文的骨架，找出之後故事先後一目了然，排次序的題目也迎刃而解。
- 第二段：兩個牌子舉個例子：店裡有兩個常見的牌子：No smoking（不准吸煙）和 Please keep the trolley to the right（手推車請靠右）。前一句是禁止，後一句是請求；以 Please 開頭的牌子語氣有禮，是公共場所最常見的英文。閱讀牌子先辨語氣：是禁止還是請求？語氣判斷正確，答牌子作用才準確，例如 To tell people not to smoke.
- No + 動名詞舉個例子：No smoking 等於不准吸煙，No running 是不准奔跑，No eating 是不准飲食。只要看見以 No 開頭的牌子，後面的動作就被禁止；動詞要加 ing 變成動名詞，這是禁止標語的固定寫法，規則非常可靠。同類牌子還有 No parking（不准停車）；留意 smoke 變 smoking 時要先去掉字尾的 e，拼字要記牢。
- 圖畫輔助舉個例子：有些牌子除了文字還畫有圖案，例如一支煙被斜線劃過。看圖比看字更快，但圖與字要一起看才最穩妥：圖提供即時的印象，字提供準確的意思，兩者互相補足，這也是閱讀圖畫與標誌的基本功，平時就要多練習。公園常見的 Keep off the grass（請勿踐踏草地）就是一例：先看圖估計大意，再用文字核對；兩邊一致，理解就萬無一失。
- 回答媽媽的問題舉個例子：媽媽問牌子說什麼，就用文中的字回答：It says "No smoking."（牌上寫著不准吸煙）以及 Keep the trolley to the right.。用 It says 開頭介紹牌子內容，是描述標語的標準句式，學會了到處都用得上。牌子若屬請求性質，也可以用 It asks us to... 句式把請求的意思帶出。
