1Friday, 20 June - Rainy. The sky was grey and the streets were wet. Dear Diary, it rained heavily this morning. I forgot my umbrella, so my friend Ken shared his with me. We walked to school together under one umbrella and jumped over the puddles.
2In the classroom, we watched a video about typhoons in our General Studies lesson. I learned that typhoons can be very strong, and we should stay inside during a storm. After school, the rain stopped and a rainbow appeared in the sky. Everyone ran outside to see it.
3At home, Mum made hot chocolate for me and my brother. I finished my maths homework before dinner, and then I wrote this diary entry. - 开头：日期加天气举个例子：日记第一行写 Friday, 20 June - Rainy.，一行包含星期、日期与天气。这行是日记的标准格式，星期与月份第一个字母要大写，日期用数字；天气词用 Rainy、Sunny、Cloudy 等。写下天气是为了日后重温时能回想当天情景，这是英文日记与中文日记共同的传统，也是老师批改时第一眼看的格式。

- 用过去式写今日事举个例子：It rained heavily this morning. I forgot my umbrella. 日记记录当天已发生的事，所以正文主要用过去式：rained、forgot 都已经发生，不能写 It rains 或 I forget。易错位是写到一半忘了转时式，前句过去式后句又回到现在式；写每句前先问：这件事发生了没有？发生了就用过去式。
- 按时间排次序举个例子：this morning 在学校、after school 在操场、at home 做功课，一件一件按时间写下去，一天便记得有条有理。时间短语放句首或句尾都可以，但最好每件事都带一个，读的人才知道事情发生在何时；次序错乱是日记常见问题，动笔前先在脑中把当天的事按时间排一遍。
- 写感受与学到的东西举个例子：Today I learned that a good friend is like an umbrella in the rain. 日记不只是流水帐，最重要的是写下感受与领悟：今天开心还是难过？学会了什么道理？放在日记后半部，一两句就够；用比喻会令日记更动人，例如把好朋友比作雨伞。多年后重读，这些感受才是最珍贵的部分。
- 结尾加晚安举个例子：Good night, dear diary. 日记以一句道别收结，就像睡前与老朋友说晚安，格式完整又有温度。写完正文与感受后，另起一行写这句晚安语；最后照例检查一遍：日期天气、Dear Diary、过去式、时间顺序、感受、晚安，六个部分齐全，这篇日记便合格了。
