3Step by step Steps
- Three steps againExample: title first, then picture, then keywords. The P2 passage is longer and holds more facts, so the three steps matter even more. Count the three steps in your head before you start reading.
- Paragraph 1: my familyExample: My father is tall and strong. He is a doctor. He works in a hospital. My mother is kind. She is a teacher. She teaches English. Six sentences cover looks, jobs and workplaces — a model for writing about your family.
- Find keywords to answerExample: for the question Where does Father work?, find works in a hospital in the passage — the answer sits right beside the keyword. Take the words from the question, then hunt for the same or similar words in the text.
- Paragraph 2: how to readExample: read the title for the topic, look at the picture for the scene, then find the keywords doctor and teacher — the two job words. Questions are usually built around keywords, so circle them when you find them.
- Paragraph 3: answer questionsExample: answer with the words from the passage: for Where does Father work? write In a hospital. Do not change the words or invent new ones. Almost every answer lives in the text, so copying the key part is the safest plan.
- Read the sign tooExample: there is a sign outside the hospital as well. Signs on streets, in malls and in parks are all worth reading: the words are short and useful, and they can appear in tests. Read every sign you see, and your word bank grows day by day.
- Retell to someoneExample: My father is a doctor. He works in a hospital. My mother is a teacher. Three sentences cover the whole passage. Retelling it to your family is the best check: if you can say it, you have truly understood it.
