§Text Passage
1This is my bedroom. It is small but tidy. There is a single bed by the window. On the bed, there is a blue pillow. Next to the bed, there is a desk. I do my homework there every day. On the wall, there is a cartoon poster. I like my room.
2In class, we read this passage. First, I read the title. Then I look at the picture of the room. The picture shows the bed and the desk. I find the keywords. They help me understand the passage.
3Then I answer the questions. Question one asks, 'Where is the desk?' The answer is next to the bed. There is a sign on my door too. It says, 'My sweet room.' Now I understand it well. Reading with pictures is fun!

3Step by step Steps
- Three steps and the pictureExample: still title, picture and keywords, but this lesson's picture matters most: every object in the bedroom has its own place. Draw a map of the room in your head as you read, and no position word will trip you up.
- Paragraph 1: my bedroomExample: My bedroom is small but tidy; a single bed stands by the window, with a blue pillow on it. Small but tidy uses but to show a contrast — a classic opening for describing a room, well worth copying.
- Position wordsExample: by the window, on the bed, next to the bed. Three position words can cover the whole room: say where the bed is, then the pillow, then the desk, one thing after another, and your listener can picture the room.
- Paragraph 2: how to readExample: the picture shows what the bed and the desk look like; the words tell you next to the bed. The picture gives looks and the words give positions, so match the two as you read — very useful in tests too.
- Paragraph 3: answer questionsExample: for Where is the desk? the answer is Next to the bed., and the keyword is next to. Circle the position word in the text first, then copy it with its noun, without inventing new wording. Two steps finish one question.
- Read the door signExample: the sign on my door says My sweet room, which sounds warm and lovely. Sweet literally means sugary, but for a room it means dear and cosy. Signs are little bonuses in a passage and tests like them, so read each one aloud.
- RetellExample: My bed is by the window. My desk is next to the bed. Describe your own room in at least two sentences with the same pattern, pointing at the real things as you speak; then let your family guess the layout.
5Worked example Example
