§Text Passage

1Proposal for a Covered Walkway near the School Gate. Aim: The aim of this proposal is to solve the problem of flooding near the school gate on rainy days. At present, students without umbrellas arrive at lessons completely wet. The floor near the gate becomes slippery and dangerous, and last month two students slipped on the steps.

2Proposal: We suggest that the school should build a covered walkway from the main gate to the covered playground. This improvement to our infrastructure would benefit more than eight hundred students every rainy season. The walkway could be made of transparent panels so that sunlight still reaches the garden. It would also keep school bags and textbooks dry. The estimated cost is sixty thousand dollars, which could be paid from the school improvement fund.

3The plan is feasible because two nearby schools completed similar projects last year, and the works took only one holiday. A local contractor has already provided a free quotation, which is attached to this proposal. As the rainy season is coming soon, we hope the school will treat this matter as urgent. We would be happy to present our plan at the next staff meeting. Thank you for considering our suggestion.

3Step by step Steps

  1. AimThe Aim names the problem solved. Example: The aim of this proposal is to solve the problem of flooding near the school gate on rainy days — one sentence locks onto the issue.
  2. ProposalThe Proposal is the concrete plan. Example: build a covered walkway from the main gate to the covered playground, with transparent panels so sunlight still reaches the garden — the more specific, the more credible.
  3. BenefitsBenefits are counted, not claimed. Example: it would benefit more than eight hundred students every rainy season and keep school bags and textbooks dry — sell the advantage to the school as well.
  4. Cost + ConclusionCost needs a figure: The estimated cost is sixty thousand dollars, which could be paid from the school improvement fund. The Conclusion asks for action: we hope the school will treat this matter as urgent.
  5. FeasibilityFeasibility needs evidence: two nearby schools completed similar projects last year, and a local contractor has already provided a free quotation — precedent plus a quotation make approval easy.
  6. Proposal vs ReportA proposal argues for future action (should / would / we suggest); a report states what already happened (findings and data). In tasks, remember: a proposal proposes.
  7. Persuasive tonePersuasive but objective: We suggest that the school should build… · It would also keep… · We would be happy to present our plan at the next staff meeting — every line serves the reader.
