§Text Passage
1Our body belongs to us. The parts covered by a swimsuit — the chest, the area between the legs and the bottom — are private parts. Except for special needs such as bathing or seeing a doctor, with a trusted adult present, nobody may look at our private parts, touch them, or take photos of them.
2Some touches feel good; some feel bad. Good touches warm us: Mummy's hug, Daddy holding our hand to cross the road, a teacher's pat of praise. Bad touches scare or hurt us: someone touching our private parts, forcing kisses or hugs, hitting or kicking. Our feelings tell us good from bad — when something feels wrong, trust the feeling.
3When bad touching happens, remember three steps. Step one: stand firm and shout No! in a firm voice. Step two: leave at once and run to a place with people and light. Step three: tell a trusted adult as soon as you can — parents, teacher or social worker — and keep telling until someone helps you. Speaking up is not shameful; it is brave and self-loving.
4Some people say: This is our secret; do not tell anyone. Remember: a secret that frightens you, feels wrong, or must be hidden from adults is not a good secret, and you need not keep it for anyone. Good secrets, like birthday presents, make everyone happy when told; bad secrets must be told so someone can protect you. You did nothing wrong — the wrong belongs to the person who touched you.

3Step by step Steps
- Step 1: Know your private partsOur body belongs to us. Think: what does a swimsuit cover? The chest, the area between the legs and the bottom — these are the private parts. They are special: except for special needs like bathing or seeing a doctor, with a trusted adult present, nobody may look at or touch them, or take photos of them. Boys and girls both have private parts, and everyone protects them alike. Knowing your own body is the first step to keeping it safe.
- Step 2: Tell good touches from bad touchesNot every touch is bad. Good touches make us warm and safe: Mummy's hug, Daddy's goodnight kiss, holding Grandpa's hand to cross the road, a teacher's pat of praise. Bad touches frighten, hurt or discomfort us: someone touching our private parts, forcing kisses, hitting or kicking. How do we tell them apart? Listen to your body: warmth and ease usually mean a good touch; a racing heart, wanting to run away, or feeling uneasy all over — stay alert and get away at once.
- Step 3: Three steps — say no, leave, tellIf a bad touch happens, or someone tries to touch your private parts, do three things at once. First, stand firm and shout in a loud, steady voice: No! Do not touch me! Second, leave at once; run to a place with people, light and shops, and find a member of staff. Third, tell a trusted adult as soon as possible — parents, teacher or social worker — and describe everything. Do all three together; protecting yourself matters most, and never hide it from adults out of fear afterwards.
- Step 4: Never keep a bad secretWrongdoers like to say: This is a secret — you will be sorry if you tell. Remember how to judge a secret: a secret that makes you happy and excited is a good secret, like a birthday surprise for Mummy; a secret that frightens or saddens you, or must be hidden from adults, is a bad secret. A bad secret need not be kept for even a second — tell a trusted adult at once. If someone offers gifts or snacks to buy your silence, refuse all the more firmly, and tell your parents or teacher straight away.
- Step 5: Practise refusing bravelyIs it rude to say no to an adult? When protecting yourself, saying no is not only right — it should be loud. Practise at home: stand straight, look at the person, push with both hands and say loudly: I do not like this — please stop! Remember, bad touches do not always come from strangers; be alert with people you know too, such as neighbours or relatives. After refusing, leave at once and tell your parents. Practise with classmates in role-play; when the words are familiar, fear will not stop your voice in a real moment.
- Step 6: Asking for help is not shamefulSome children dare not speak after being touched wrongly, afraid of being scolded, ashamed, or fearing no one will believe them. Remember three sentences. First, it is not your fault; the fault belongs to the person who touched you. Second, only by telling can adults protect you. Third, if the first adult does not believe you, tell a second and a third — a teacher, a social worker, a school counsellor — and in an emergency call nine nine nine. A child who speaks up is a brave little warrior, worthy of everyone's praise and care.
5Worked example Example
Example: A neighbour asks Sing-Yu into his flat alone and says: Let me touch you there — it is our secret; do not tell Mummy. How should Sing-Yu react?
- Know at once: touching private parts is wrong, and a secret hidden from Mummy is a bad secret.
- Step one: step back, shout No! and run out of the flat to the crowded lobby or a shop.
- Step two: tell Mummy everything as soon as she is home, including his words do not tell anyone.
- Afterwards: let Mummy decide what to do, such as telling the teacher or the police; Sing-Yu does not meet this neighbour alone again.
- Answer: Sing-Yu should shout No!, leave at once for a place with people, and tell Mummy everything as soon as she is home. Touching private parts and secrets hidden from adults are bad touches and bad secrets; speaking up brings protection, and she did nothing wrong at all.
